Pissed my oscars off tonight. Eh… it’s for the best, just ask my kids!!! I had just the one Oscar in a 38 gallon tank until about a month ago.
I went to a small business fish store last month and fell in love with an oscar that was probably about 2 years old. Some douche thought he was dead and tried to flush him down the toilet. He was, of course, too big to fit down the drain so was fished out (LMFAO). To captain douche’s surprise, Oscar 2 was not dead after all. He then brought him to a fish guy. I was in said fish guy’s place of business and, like I said, fell in love… With this fish and his story. I had to have him. I have had my Oscar for over 6 years now and was a little concerned about adding this baby to the tank. Not because of my fish but because this baby O had a really “street” attitude! I took the chance and my big O complied. He let the little guy strut his stuff for a while and then put him in his place.
Either way, I got them a bigger home (65) so they have room to breathe but I had to keep them in a bucket while I made the move. It is not small task to drain and break down a 38 AND setup and fill a 65. Also, I wanted to try under the gravel filtration so that was a project all its own. It took me quite a while.
By re-homing time, everyone was mad… More like stressed. Big O was laying down and baby O is shock-white. El Pleco is just lazing about. They seem like they are getting a little better though. I am probably more stressed than they are. I would be devastated if I lost any little fishy.

Fumbling around dating sites for no reason at all. I don’t think I am in the mood for people. A guy called Mike pops up. He wasn’t unattractive, he was a single parent like myself, lives super far away, which I like, so a respond. I immediately regretted it. It started much like all other online stranger conversations; “what’s a pretty girl like you doing on here”. Insert generic ass answer. Can’t really say that I am trying to reaffirm why I do not like talking to people.
After the same ol’ same ol’, I popped the question; Do you drink? He said he had slowed down which raises a red flag. I didn’t want to probe but apparently, I didn’t have to. He shared with me that 3 weeks ago he was drinking (probably heavily) and woke to his friends deceased body. He was generous enough to give me many more flags to plant and a reason to blog about it. Like, dude, did you kill your friend? Did he drink to much? How was the body found? Any gun shot wounds? Lacerations? Signs of asphyxiation?
So if a potential crime wasn’t enough of an overshare on hour one of conversation one he throws in the “special needs” son card. This one touches my heart for obvious reasons. I wanted to ask questions because maybe we did have something in common.. This was until he shared that he has only been single for a year after a 13 year relationship with the mother who stopped having sex with him after the son was born “like that” and was cheating on him while his mother was on her death bed. I think that his word choices are flags on their own, well maybe coupled with the dead friend “that type of disrespect cannot be tolerated”. Like, did your, now, deceased friend disrespect you that night? Was he the one sleeping with your girl?
How do you ask someone if they killed their friend without coming as rude or callous? I have to know and apparently, I am still a magnet for other people to spill their guts to so I will entertain the conversation until I know.
Netflix has done it again. Marcella. I have only watched the first episode and I can already feel the binge coming on. Show starts out with the chick in a tub with blood on her head and mud-like stuff on the bathroom walls. I have an almost sick fascination with crime drama stuff and it’s set across the pond, so I am in accent heaven. Maybe I just want to drive on the wrong side of the road and say I have stuff in the boot of the car. Well, I have a week before the new term starts but inventory all week long so I will just have to see how tired I will be.
I got a froggy today. Kids named him Frogger (go figure). I originally wanted to have him in the 30 long tank with the Goby Dragon “Eli” and the African Butterfly “Michael Myers” but this did not work out for him. He is definitely a jumper! I found him squished between the clip that holds up the submersible filter and had to carefully release him. I figured he wouldn’t try that again but I was wrong. I rounded the corner just in time to see him take a running(swimming) start and leap right out of the tank and into the top of the filter! He was almost home free. I had to make the decision to put him in the huge tank with huge ass tank mates and just hope his little legs are quick enough to escape capture. He spent the first five minutes in the tank swimming laps trying to find the nearest exit. Unfortunately for him the water level is about 5 inches from the lid because Oscar is quite the jumper when food is involved.
He finally decided to rest is tiny legs on the bottom of the tank and the Oscar and Pleco were looking at him like where the hell did you come from. Good thing he almost looks like decor!
Can I start by saying, I don’t know if my pleco is cleaning the new dragon fish our trying
Not my ACTUAL fish
to consume its soul.
I have had fish for a very long time, my oscar, aptly named Oscar is probably around 6ish now. He is my baby and is about eight inches now. He is the patriarch of the tank and no one really messes with him. He will eat them! He has eaten many of pet fish over the years so I resigned myself to only having him in the tank. I scored a deal on a pleco (plecostomus), named Dempsey, maybe 2 or so years ago and
Also Not Mine
since he lives close to the bottom of the tank I thought he would be alright. The deal was pretty huge! They costs around 10-15 bucks as babies in the pet store but the one I found was large. I don’t think he was actually for sale. I think he was actually a “working” fishy and was tasked with cleaning the tank at the pet store but some nube sold him to me at the baby price. He is now about 6.5 inches and thriving with Oscar. They have been together ever since. Today, while I was waiting for my laundry to wash, I ran over to the pet store to “just look”. I ran into Cat who chats me up about fish whenever I come in. We talked about rope fish and an arowana that had recently sold. Out of nowhere, she yells; “Oh I have something that you’re gonna love!”. Of course I am like… .Lets go! She walks me over to a tank and said “look at this dragon goby”. I was instantly sold. I immediately told her to bag’em up. He was so cute and a freaking dragon!
He is now named, Eli and will get to be about 3ft in the right conditions. He has really sharp teeth and can eat live. I hope he survives the cleaning that Dempsey is putting him through. No one dares put their hand in my tank and I like it like that!

I took a Behavioral Assessment the other day for class. I thought I would share it here… because… why not.
I feel like it does describe me pretty well and the highlighted area was most funny.
